Lesson 9 - Promotion 101

AC all but requires that you promote when you write general articles. Fortunately, keyword articles that you write with the help of Article Architect will promote themselves (one of the many benefits of the software), and most of the time, no matter how much promotion you do with the other articles, you won’t get as many views with a general article as you will with a keyword article.

However, it’s not all about just writing keyword articles. Those are good for generating a lot of pageviews, but if you want to unleash your more creative side, you should write some general articles as well.

Promoting these articles is the only way to get AC to continue allowing you to submit content. Think about it: if you were paying for articles, you would want to know that the author was promoting their content to earn pageviews…wouldn’t you?

Thus, after a while, it becomes important that you generate pageviews with your articles so that you can continue to write for pay. And the only way to get pageviews is to promote.

About half of Associated Content’s pageviews are generated from other CPs (content producers = writers). Writers are reading the articles of others for ideas and for entertainment, and you want to get in on this. To do that, post in the forum and ask questions of the experienced posters. You can post a link to your content, and many times, earn yourself subscribers from other forum posters.

You also want to post links to your articles in other kinds of forums related to your content. In other words, if you write a lot of articles about golf, find a forum online full of golfers and post links to your articles. Do not spam the forum., and make sure that you occasionally contribute in a meaningful way, but don’t hesitate to show them to your articles when the time comes.

You can also promote with MySpace, Facebook, and a lot of social bookmarking websites. I suggest using MySpace, joining groups with a lot of other writers and making friends whenever you can, and then using the blog feature to advertise your latest works. This is a great way to get some promotion. As for the bookmarking sites, use Onlywire, and you should be fine. This article explains Onlywire and its setup. The effectiveness of this method is debatable, but it does increase pagerank, often helping you place higher in Google.

Some people like to create lenses on Squidoo to boost pageviews, and this method works well if you have a lot of content in a focused topic. You could make a “Dog training” lens or a “Rock music in Chicago” lens. Post new Text modules for each article you have, and then quote the abstract and maybe a paragraph or two on your lens, and then add a link which prompts readers to “Read the Full Article” and link it to your AC Article.

All of this promotion, however can be avoided by simply using keyworded articles. These kinds of articles are going to place high in Google based on the fact that there is not a lot of competition, and that AC is a respected site on Google. Get Article Architect and the power of Keywords working to your advantage, and you don’t need to worry about the rest of this stuff.
